Tutorials and Workshops
Tutorials (proposal)
ITS 2011 is a premier venue for presenting research in the design and use of new and emerging tabletop and interactive surface technologies. Attendees join tutorials to get a broad overview of the field of Interactive Surfaces and Tabletops. Please feel free to submit about any topic of interest to the community, some suggestions are included below:
- Touch Hardware overviews & taxonomies
- Multitouch software overviews & techniques
- Overview of multitouch interaction over mobile devices
- Overview of social protocols, proxemics, territoriality
- Hands-on experiences (with an emphasis on DIY)
- Evaluation methods
- … and other exciting topics!
The tutorial chairs are looking for leaders in interactive surface technology to run tutorials and workshops that will run 90min in length and occur the day before the conference starts. To recognize the hard work involved, tutorial speakers will receive complementary turorial and conference registration. We request a short 1-2 page proposal in the ITS papers and notes format (https://its2011.jp/submission.php#templates). Please indicate the following:
- Topic of tutorial and relevance to tabletop community
- Nature of the tutorial, particularities
- Bio of speaker
- Physical requirements: Equipment, video/audio, specialized tools.
Please submit your proposal and questions to the tutorial chairs (tutorials@its2011.jp) by August 1, 5:00pm pacific standard time (PDT).
Workshops (proposal)
ITS 2011 is a premier venue for presenting research in the design and use of new and emerging tabletop and interactive surface technologies. Workshops organizers will select a topic of interest and manage submissions and reviews for proposals (workshop participants should submit their proposals by October 1). Authors are welcome to submit any topic of interest, some suggestions include:
- Multitouch on mobiles
- Touch in public spaces
- Collaborating with tables
- Works in progress
- … and other exciting topics!
The workshop chairs are looking for leaders in interactive surface technology to run workshops that will last 3 hours in length and occur the day before the conference starts. To recognize the hard work involved, workshop organizers will receive complementary workshop and conference registration. We request a short 1-2 page proposal in the ITS papers and notes format (https://its2011.jp/submission.php#templates). Please indicate the following:
- Topic of Workshop
- Relevance to Tabletop community
- Nature of the tutorial, particularities
- Room requirements: Tables, Chair, Projector configuration
